Gantt chart: new version that doesn't overlap other page elements
I just uploaded a new version of the Gantt chart webpart. It contains two fixes.
- No more overlapping. In the previous versions, the chart would hide other screen elements when it grew wider. The new version of the part will claim enough space to show itself and push other screen elements to the side or the bottom (as a proper HTML element should do). If you want to constrain the screen space the chart uses, you can always use the standard web part settings Width and Height from the Appearance tab.
- Allows empty start and end dates. In the old version, the part would not work if one more more records would have an empty field (for start or end date). In this new version, records with an empty start or end date will show up in the chart (with their title), but without a time bar.
The sources and binaries can be downloaded here. Procedures for installation and configuration have not changed.

Thank you for the update.
Is it possible to make a task clickable? And it´s forward you to the right task?

When you return from your vacation :) - would it be possible for you to package your part into either a CAB I can install with stsadm, or an MSI (from Wppackager)?
I have tried following your (and others) instructions to install the DWP and DLL files, and modifying the web.config. (I don't have a \bin directory on my WSS site, and I would rather have it in the GAC anyway.) But no matter what I do I always get the "Web Part not registered on site as safe" error when I try to drag the part from the Virtual Server Gallery to the page. I have tried compiling with MakeCAB, and even packaging it (Wppackager) myself using MS's instructions, but I always get the same error.
I'm sure this would be a low priority for you, but we certainly could make use of this part if we could get it installed properly.
Thanks, Chris Thach.

In response to Chris Thach.
You have to put both dll's in the bin folder. Otherwise use the InstallAssemblies tool available on the MS website to install the assemblies.

Thank you very much for your help. I used the InstallAssemblies tool from MS, and included both DLLs, and it worked! Exactly what I needed.
Now I'm just figuring out the internal vs displayed field names in SP, but I can deal with that. :-)

I am getting the error: There is an error in the query. Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined.
Any help much appreiciated.

I have never before seen this error (Invalid URI) in the web part. Are you using the most up-to-date version of the part (the one that comes with an installer and allows you to select fields from drop-down lists)?
